Sweet Orient Basmati Rice Cups

Ingredients

Basmati Taj - Arroz Oriente
  • 3/4 cup of Oriental Basmati Rice (185g)
  • 1 + 1/2 cup of water (440g)
  • 2 cups almond vegetable drink (or milk, 550g)
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar (80g)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • zest of 1 orange

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, mix the rice, water, 1 cup of vegetable drink, sugar, cinnamon and aniseed.
  2. Cut the cardamom pod in half and remove the seeds from inside. chop with a knife and add to the pan with the remaining ingredients.
  3. Let it cook over a low heat for about 20 minutes or until the rice absorbs all the liquid.
  4. Remove from heat. Discard the cinnamon stick and aniseed.
  5. Add the second cup of vegetable drink and the orange zest. Shake well.
  6. Transfer to glasses and, if desired, serve with powdered cinnamon.
