Place the cod in a pan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, after the water boils, let it cook for 3 minutes. Remove the cod and shred. Note: reserve the cod cooking water.
In a pan, sauté the chopped onion with olive oil. Then add the minced garlic.
Add the rice and 1 + 1/2 cups of hot water to the pan (you can use the cod cooking water). Add the chickpeas and a pinch of salt. Cover and let cook for about 10 minutes.
Finally add the cod and spinach chips. Finish with ground black pepper.
